My name is Carlos Loret de Mola.
I am a photo-based artist, curator, and publisher born in Havana, Cuba, and currently living in Hudson, New York.
I received a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Georgia State University.
My work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Center for Photography in Woodstock, Rayko Photo Center in San Francisco, The Tokyo Institute of Photography, and The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, where my photographs are in its permanent collection.
But none of that really matters.
My art practice consists primarily of producing photographic publications in collaboration with other artists, usually of Latin American descent like myself. Through sequencing and design, I use photographs to generate fictional or quasi-fictional narratives. I am interested in imagined memories, constructed moments, and stories that may exist beyond the pictures.
My collaborative publication projects platform is Los Sumergidos.
